Ideas.......

Now is the time to throw out any ideas you might have while the new forum is in the building process.

i can not guarantee i will use all ideas but i do always keep an open ear and will work in anything i think will help us grow.

Is it possible to add a like button? This just shows a post is well liked, like when someone shows off a particularly cool piece or finished model.

across the top toolbar of your browser there should already be an option to " like" on facebook, tweet on twitter , share on google + , the @ symbol is to email the site page to someone and then the rss feed to get notifications to your mail when there are updates

Wayne, the way we did it over on another forum I'm on was to keep it by invitation only until the core was solid. We invited members that we knew had no problems working together, and once everything was running smoothly, it was opened up to everyone. So far, it's worked great, we don't have drama or flame wars at all, and we've only had to block about 6 members since it was started just over 7 years ago. Nothing but people who love this insane hobby and like being with other people who enjoy the same thing.

The main thing to remember also is that there are literally thousands of modeling forums out there, so expecting high traffic and insane amounts of posting is just setting yourself up for heartbreak. If you can get a good, solid core group, then people will eventually find us. Especially with the bigger forums having issues with drama, feuds and flame wars all the time, people are looking for a more family-friendly place to hang out, we do this to relax, not stress out, so if it's done right, people will find us!

for starters i figure the core members (us) will drag in people we know who might enjoy hanging out here.
in the future once we get a decent base of people, then we can sort out bringing in others and hoping they have the proper attitude to hang out and become family.
i am not looking for 1000 members and never was, would be happy with 20-30 who actually post occasionally lol.
the old place died down to 3 posters so it was time to change things up a bit.
i like the new diggs so far so lets see where it will take us
