39 chevy build

Ok, so, I have this kit and................
Well, I just can't see it put together like it shows on the box.
Plus, there is a really cool 7 liter Chevy engine to show off, so, all those fenders and hood and such, well, I am thinking they need to go.
At first, I thought I was going to ask for another engine, but, after looking through the kit, I really like this set up, so I am happy.
As for the rims, well, we'll see..........

So, I hit the paper first.
When looking, remember, I am a residential designer, (I draw and build houses), so, drawing a 1939 car is quite the stretch.
This is what I have to work with. Molded in black and pretty straight, so far. Not a lot of flashing, not a lot of dents to fill, but it seemed to lack something a bit more modern. (To me)
So, I sketched out the front of the car. My "artistic" rendition of about what the front should look like if I were to build it close to the box.
This is where I am thinking of going. The fenders will be filled at the wheel well. The front will no longer have a bumper, or a hood. There will be a cool ground effects piece built into the front, meshing the fenders and the grill for a cool, slick look. The grill will be held in by 2 rods brought back to the fire wall. The engine is already a 7 liter engine, (If someone could tell me what size engine that is, I would appreciate it). I had thought I wanted to find a 454 big block for this bad boy, but not sure now.
Since I was sketching, I thought I would take a stab at the back end. Since I love me some wings, like that of a 57 or old caddy, I thought I would see what my mind could make up on this. Not sold on the idea, but not completely taking it out, either. We'll see.
So, let the plastic fly and the glue dry, I'm already having a ball, boys. (And girl.)

Well, I started trying to decide how the wheels would look. Placed the appropriate pieces together, without glue, so I could get an idea of what it looked like, stock from the box.
Now, I am trying to figure out how to lay out the front end to look a little like the drawings.
I used Elmer's glue to tack it down, but did not like what was coming out. It seems that the sheet stock I have may be a bit too flimsy, or, my cuts weren't too good.
Just to see if I liked the idea or not, I put on the grill, to see where it would sit and how. Now, I am back to planning it out.
I am going to take another look at the front end on paper, I think I might have come up with a better idea for the front end. The fenders seem to big right now, so, I am thinking that the fenders need to decrease so the front end can increase.
