Removing glue induced finger prints
Mon Feb 02, 2015 4:29 am
It never fails, you are building away jamming out to the radio. When all the sudden you try to pull your finger away from the car body you are working on and you feel that tug. Yep you you just stuck your finger that has glue on it to the body of your model car.
So after a few chosen words....you think to yourself what now. Well no fear the world is not going to end.....all you are going to need is either micro pads or micro sheets starting at 3200 (3600 for the pads) and go to 12000. These are what I use.
So as I was attaching the wing on to an Acura NSX the glue(Tamiya extra thin) had found its way down the panel line to my finger.
If the model you are working on has raised detail in the area of the finger print use masking tape to cover the raised detail. I started with a micro pad with 3600 grit.
The next step is a 4000 grit pad

Great tip! We've all made this mistake before, so knowing how to fix what you just screwed up is definitely helpful!

nice tutorial
polishing kits can yield great results if you take your time and let the sanding compound do its work
