And one more update. I finally gave up on doing the rolled edges of the bed after laying some primer on the piece I already had made up to test a theory. Since I'm using Dupli-Color paints, I wanted to see if the ultra-thin plastic could withstand the hotter paint without getting screwed up. I laid down two coats of Primer/Sealer, and it just ruined the tubing, so back to square one we go. I decided I'd try to go a bit easier this time around, we're going to add a bed cover, and incorporate triangle shapes into the overhang, here's a quick look at the idea done in MS Paint..because I'm low-tech like that! I'm not sure right now if the triangles will be solid or open, let me know which way you think I should run with them.

open would be cool but a pain to get right i think.
what about a coat of primer before the paint?

Wayne, I really think making the triangle sections part of the bed cover would be a breeze, and it would double as a way to keep the cover where it belongs on the bed. It's just a rectangular piece of plastic, so it shouldn't be to hard to get right...I hope!

Everything is looking good. Sorry to hear about the rolled edges.
What about metal tubing instead of plastic? That would hold the paint without any issues, wouldn't it?
