73 Camaro front bumper

looks easy enough to scratch build, i would think maybe some .080 styrene rod and some creative sanding should do it

Never thought of that......will have to give that a try....thanks for the idea

i will mess around with it a bit tomorrow and see what i come up with since i have the day off
front end looks the same as the 70 1/2 so i should be able to use the nose as a template

took a quick 15 mins to see if it would work out the way i thought

starting with .080 rod

i cut it down into 2 sections


bent the sides with the lighter technique where it curls down the side of the body


making sure my bends are right


gotta thin down the inside of the side bend to conform with the body, what better tool for it?


tapered to fit now


rolling the outer side to give it a smoother look




a matched pair of sides


cutting some of the excess off so i can get down closer to finished size


used sanding sticks to true up the joint in the middle


i know in the real bumper there are 2 more shallow bends in the bumper, this was just a test concept so i didnt add them. if i make another later i will


a drop of liquid cement to bond them together


only thing that would be left is using a sanding stick to flatten out the top and bottom of the bumper a bit since the real bumper isnt actually round


overall the technique will work so you can either give it a go yourself or i can do another with the 2 added bends and send it to ya bud

Man I am speechless.....I have never seen anyone do something like that(I am speaking in reference to just taking the initiative and showing me how to resolve my dilemma)......I really appreciate the help.....I should be able to do that.....forgive me for I don't usually scratch build stuff so the no know how is not there for me.  And again Thank you I love this site and it's members.
