ever find yourself at a point where you just wanna set the current build on the floor and jump on it repeatedly?
...
ok lemme back up a step lol
this weeks update
grabbed the floor pan and took a look at the exhaust crossover pipe, does not look right as it is elongated
pulled out the jewelers files and rounded the upper portion to make it look right
i am doing the same with the exhaust pipes where they follow the transmission tunnel
while i was doing that, i threw a coat of aluminum on the transmission and mocked it up
that is the kit unit i just cut away from the crappy engine it was attached to
header/front pipe area got a base coat of steel with an overcoat on the manifolds of burnt metal for a bit of contrast
underside of the floor plan got a shot of steel on the exhaust as well
mocked up the engine again in the body, sitting on all the factory mounts and it looks like its gonna work
rut roe, base coat of duplicolor chrome
since i am doing a candy job on the lower half i am applying the decals before the final color coats
using a bit of model master decal set, they went down smooth enough
laid out my demarcation line on the side and hit it with candy purple
once the purplu dried i got out my glad press N seal and masked off the lower portion of the sides
top half shot with tamiya black
was actually looking great as i peeled off the pinstripe and press N seal
here is where the problem came in, i was also making 2 racing stripes in the same purple so i used masking tape, the 3m blue painters tape, to make it less sticky i stuck it to my cutting mat twice before applying it to the body. and it still lifted the effin purple grrrrr
from one purple to another
anyone got a set of hemi decals? lol... cya in a few days once i get this stripped and reprimed

well it was looking good till the tape disaster. hope your next try works out for ya.
was a bit worried about the pic with the press and seal, at first I thought those are some goofy graffics for a Hemi Cuda. LOL

Well, it was looking really good before the tape mess.
So, if painters tape pulls up paint, what do you use to mask of areas?

Dennis, I don't know what happened with Wayne's paint job, but in my experience, it happens when the paint isn't fully cured yet. I've done it way more times than I can count, and almost every time, it's because I got in a hurry and didn't let the paint cure fully.
